The swinging bridges in Alaska (also known as suspension bridges or foot bridges) that weave their way through the rainforest in Juneau are not for the faint of heart. You’ll be gripping the ropes as you cross from one tree to the next, hoping a gust of wind doesn’t hit you from out of nowhere. This is one terrifyingly exciting adventure that you won’t want to miss!

The bridges are part of the Alaska Zipline Adventure tour and each one takes you to the next zipline station towering high up in the trees. There is just one drawback, since the bridges are part of the Zipline tour, you will also have to strap into a harness and fly from one tree to the next in order to walk all of the bridges. Zip lining in Alaska is not for the faint of heart!

Are there a lot of zip lining courses in Alaska?

Actually, there are quite a few of them! Alaska’s incredible mountain scenery and tall trees provide a wonderful opportunity to experience a zip lining course. In fact, the longest zip line in the world is right here in Alaska on the Icy Strait. There are all kinds of courses around the state, with many in the rainforest, some right on Resurrection Bay, and others offering views of Denali or Matanuska Glacier. Alaska has lots of ways to experience our wonderful scenery, especially in a thrilling way!

Are there any other thrilling ways to experience Alaska besides a zip line?

Absolutely! Alaska is a land of extremes, and there are tons of extreme ways to experience it. You can surf the bore tide in the Cook Inlet, or surf the cold waves on Kodiak Island or Yakutat. You can stand up paddle the alpine lakes at the top of your hikes, or spend the night on a glacier. Backcountry ski or snowboard after you get dropped off on an epic peak by a helicopter. Hike the tallest mountain in North America, Denali, or bike the Dalton Highway above the Arctic Circle. Alaska is an incredible place to live and play!
