There’s no doubt so many Kentuckians missed the plethora of festivals that were canceled over the past year. As we look toward the future and feel hopeful that many, if not all, of these events can return, several of the most popular festivals in Kentucky are planning and gearing up for what they hope to be a gathering in 2021. As we all know, nothing is definite and things may look different, but the Marion County Country Ham Days Festival in Kentucky is planning to return in 2021, so let’s take a look back at why this is a favorite in the Bluegrass State.
Lebanon is called the "Heart of Kentucky," and it's earned that name for many reasons. One of them is thanks to its festive, welcoming attitude and that is never more evident than during Country Ham Days Festival in Kentucky.
This popular festival, like practically all other large gatherings in Kentucky, was canceled this past year, but they made the best of a tough situation. They hope to return in 2021 on the last full weekend of September.
Ham Days has been around since 1969 and has grown from a very small celebration to a downright party celebrating one of Kentucky's most beloved foods. It's consistently named one of the best festivals in Kentucky and it's easy to know why if you've attended.
There's also a car/truck/motorcycle show that's a highlight on Sunday, as well as an antique tractor display. It's small town entertainment at its finest.
But the country ham is at the center of the celebration and you can try some of the best in the state. And after you've filled your belly, stick around for the magical hot air balloon display.
