Welcome to Strataca! As long as you aren't claustrophobic or scared of being below the earth, then follow along on the adventure! It's a great spot to book on your bucket lists, for sure.

Salt deposits here in Kansas developed 275 million years ago, and the mine began operations as a company named Carey Salt Company in 1923.

Hundreds of feet below the ground, you'll find there's a vast area that's been cleared out of all the salt and soil that was here.

Once you're down here, you'll need to take a ride out to the museum area, where the science behind salt deposits

They hold various events down here throughout the year, but the regular tour continues to be the coolest one. Who knows, you might learn something new about our world that you didn't know before!

The tour is fantastic for all ages, as long as you can handle the enclosed space and the ride on the train. After that, everything else is about learning and having fun in a salt mine!

Strataca's hours are listed as 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
