Rhode Island’s amazing history has ensured a few things for the state’s residents. For one, excellent museums and history-related attractions can be found all over the state. Secondly, magnificent architecture abounds! Here are 15 pieces of simply amazing architecture that are definitely worth the visit.
1. Let's begin with the Newport Mansions. We introduce you to the Breakers, a massive gilded age mansion and former Vanderbilt residence.
2. The Marble House: Another Vanderbilt property, this mansion was built in the late 1800s as a summer residence.
3. The Elms: This breathtaking Newport mansion was designed after the mid-18th century French chateau d'Asnieres in Paris.
4. Rosecliff: This Newport home was completed in 1902 for a whopping 2.5 million dollars.
5. Chateau-Sur-Mer: This seaside castle was considered the most lavish Newport mansion until the completion of the Breakers several decades later.
