Wintertime can sometimes make you feel holed up at home, especially in North Dakota. The Dakota Zoo in North Dakota is open on the weekends, offering a great day trip destination that’ll get everyone out of the house.

The Dakota Zoo in Bismarck, North Dakota has been delighting visitors of all ages since it opened in 1961.

Located on the edge of the Missouri River, this zoo is home to more than 600 animals and is open year-round. During summer, they are open daily, and in the fall and winter, they are open on the weekends.

From October through late April, the Dakota Zoo is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It's a great place to take the family out to shake off some of that cabin fever.
