Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
When people think of a perfect fairy-tale, they probably don’t usually think of somewhere like Delaware. Or do they? Delaware is home to many breathtaking landscapes and places to unwind, but we think this one might just be perfect enough to be the setting for your favorite mermaid tales.
Delaware Seashore State Park officially became a park in 1965, and its name was changed from Indiana River State Park to what it is today the following year.
The beaches are made of soft, white and cream-colored sand. If surfing is your passion, there's a surf beach north of the Indian River inlet. There are also designated areas for swimming and getting some sun.

Delaware Seashore State Park is also just one of a small cluster of state parks in the same area.
However, there's more than just those! Delaware Seashore State Park is known for its absolutely wonderful fishing, breathtaking nature trails, and, of course, coastline for as far as you can see.
Families and individuals are encouraged to picnic year-round, and during the summer, there are sandcastle contests and several nature programs to enjoy.
We strongly suggest that you arrive early to watch the cotton-candy sunrise over the ocean. There are lots of places to set up a small day-camp to enjoy your time at the park with.
Spend your day (or weekend!) walking the shores, seeing the beautiful sights and, of course, maybe a little mermaid spotting.
The atmosphere surrounding this Delaware paradise is certainly something you might consider "fairy-tale perfect" when you think of it in the future. It may not be right this moment- but give it time, and a visit.
Watch the sun set and admire the beautiful, vibrant colors as they fade to blue and then to the depth of night.
Don't forget to look up at least one more time before you head home; there will be millions of stars above to admire.
