Spend A Magical Afternoon At The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, Arkansas' Largest Butterfly House
The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks has a beautiful collection of themed gardens but that’s not the only reason to visit! Come see the state’s largest (and only) butterfly house too. The magic of these little creatures never ceases, no matter how old you are. Bring the family or just a camera as we tour this gorgeous place.

The BGO features a dozen differently themed gardens sprawled out over 44 acres in Fayetteville. In addition to the native flora, the BGO also houses a truly magical place for our native butterflies!

Across the Great Lawn, on the other side of the Four Seasons Garden resides the state's only butterfly house. This gorgeous place not only attracts butterflies but also acts as a protective breeding ground for them.

Here you'll discover the host plants and nectar plants in addition to the actual butterflies. The butterfly Mentors of BGO raise native species of butterflies throughout the year. The best time to visit to see them fluttering about is from May till about October.

All four stages of butterfly can be observed at the Butterfly House. Visitors can challenge themselves to find eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises, and butterflies! Just be sure to stay on the paved path, caterpillars can fall off their plants so tread carefully.

Capturing these beautiful creatures on camera isn't the only thing to do while you're here! The BGO has partnered with the University of Arkansas to collect data about the migration patterns of butterflies. Any visitor can grab one of the butterfly observation forms and make notes on what kind/how many butterflies are seen at the garden. You can view the form right here.

Admission to the BGO is $7 for adults and $4 for ages 5-12. Learn more about the BGO by visiting their website right here. You can also stay tuned to their events and daily activities by following their Facebook Page.
