There’s no denying that we all have a bit of cabin fever these days. Between the cold weather and a few months of social distancing, it’s not surprising that we’ve been making lists of things to do with our nearest and dearest outside. If you’re in the same boat, we’ve got a fun trail you probably haven’t explored yet.
The Elaine Stimson Warren Woods in Scarborough offers a network of trails through fields and woods, which means the route is flat and easy to follow.
With frontage on Nonesuch River the area is great for understanding more about wetlands and other common Maine habitats. This makes it especially great for kids who are curious about the world around them.
While there are a few short trails here, we love the 1.5-mile Warren Woods Trail Loop. The route should take less than an hour depending on how many times you stop.
The total elevation gain is just 13 feet, which also makes this great for beginners. And of course, furry friends love the route as well. Just be sure to keep them on a leash.
You'll begin your hike at the trailhead and all you need to do is follow the route. As a looped trail, you'll eventually end up right back where you started.
This is a great trail to explore now. And if you do, let us know how it was by leaving a comment!
The Warren Woods trails are located in Scarborough and are great year-round. You can learn more about your visit by checking out alltrails.com or Maine Trail Finder. Bring the pups, but remember to keep them on a leash. And, of course, maintain all social distancing rules.
