Looking forward to trekking across a frozen landscape this winter? If you’re in New Mexico, you’re in luck because you don’t have to travel far! Make your next winter outing a memorable one with this unique adventure near Albuquerque.
The Sandia Mountains are not only a stunning view from the city but also the site of some fantastic winter activities a short drive away.
At the Sandia Crest, you'll not only get a spectacular view of Albuquerque down below but you'll also get a chance to check out the historic Kiwanis Cabin. Dating to 1930, the rock structure was built as a weather shelter by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression.
Afterward, it's time to begin the trek back down the trail to complete the five-mile journey.
The Sandia Peak Snowshoe Tour is offered through the Routes Bicycle Tours & Rentals company in Albuquerque. Tours are offered on Sundays for approximately 3.5 hours from December through February. To purchase tickets or find additional details, visit the tour company’s website or Facebook page.
