At the confluence of the Little Kanawha and the Ohio Rivers stands an old Civil War fort site overlooking Parkersburg, West Virginia that is now one of the areas favorite city parks. In addition to some fascinating history, this park, known as Fort Boreman Park, is known far and wide as the spot to come if you want to enjoy some absolutely spectacular views.
Hello, and welcome to Parkersburg, West Virginia's Fort Boreman Park. Pull on in, find a spot to park (there are plenty), and prepare to enjoy some beautiful views.
The Ohio River is on full, glorious display here at Fort Boreman Park, and you can see it from many vantage points as you stroll the park grounds.
The river views are sharply juxtaposed with those of the city; the two have coexisted here for many decades.
With impressive stone balconies and charming wooden boardwalks, you can pick your preference as you enjoy a stroll along the park's paths.

But come prepared to do some climbing if you want to see all of the vantage points the park offers!
At the top of these steps, look for the Top of Hill Overlook; the trail then loops around toward the Parkersburg Overlook.
There's never a wrong time to visit Fort Boreman: the river looks good by day or by night, in any season of the year.
