There’s a lot to brag about when it comes to Montana. Here are a few things that no other state can claim.
1. Three words: Glacier National Park.
The fact that Glacier is in our state has earned us bragging rights for life.
2. Lewis and Clark Caverns.
An ancient limestone cavern once used by Native Americans that draws around 600 visitors a day is pretty brag-worthy.
3. We invented the heart monitor.
Well, specifically, Norman "Jeff" Holter invented it. But he was from Helena.
4. We have more bookstores per capita than any other state.
Just call us The Bookstore State.
5. At one time, Montana had no speed limit on the highways.
It’s a big state and people have a lot of ground to cover quickly.
6. Our sapphires are in the Crown Jewels of England.
The Montana Yogo Sapphire is the only North American gem to have that honor.
7. You won’t find personal space like this anywhere else in the country.
46 of Montana’s 56 counties are considered frontier counties, having an average population of 6 or fewer people per square mile.
8. No other state has as many different species of mammals as Montana.
