Michigan is positively bursting with natural appeal, so it should come as no surprise that this state is home to what is, in our opinion, one of the most magical waterfalls in the country.
Tahquamenon Falls is an absolutely striking spot that looks like it sprung from a fairytale. Here’s what you need to know about visiting.
Located in the gorgeous Tahquamenon Falls State Park, this waterfall area is truly one of the most spectacular places in the state.
There are actually two waterfalls here – Upper Falls and Lower Falls. Lower Falls is a series of five smaller cascades, and Upper Falls is a single dramatic drop.
Upper Falls is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi. It plunges 50 feet into the Tahquamenon River with an output of 50,000 gallons of water per second.
You can view the falls from the river bank or an island that can be reached via rowboat rental. The park also offers special track chairs that allow wheelchair uses to access snowy, sandy, or water-logged spots.
You can find out more about visiting Tahquamenon Falls by heading to the official park page here. Be sure to always check current opening times and guidance online or over the phone before visiting.
