Locally sourced and locally made products are one of our favorite things to feature on Only In West Virginia. We’re proud of the many small businessmen and local farmers that work hard to produce fine quality products made right here in our state, like this family-owned farm and distillery in Harman, West Virginia.
Tucked away up a narrow, West Virginia mountain holler, Still Hollow Spirits is a family-run distillery known for their farm to bottle liquor.
Yes, you read that right: farm to bottle. That means they locally source all their ingredients, including using spring water from their own mountain and growing much of their grain on their very own farm with authentic equipment that has served them well for decades.
Not only do they grow their own grains, but they even use heirloom kernels like Bloody Butcher corn that have been handed down by West Virginian gardeners since pioneer days... and were handed to those early pioneers by the native tribes.
Still Hollow Spirits is also known for their small batch processing. The spirits they process are unique, produced batch by batch in just a few barrels at a time, and sometimes only one.
You know you're drinking something special when it's single batch!
One reason Still Hollow Spirits does small batches is because they want to do them right. From hand-numbering...
...to carefully matched local and regional flavor combinations, the folks at Still Hollow Spirits strive for quality and take care to honor their roots.
This distillery also sells a few other products, including t-shirts, mugs, and other gift items. And each spring, they age and bottle a few batches of West Virginia Maple Syrup.
That's definitely not a barrel you want to miss out on!
So come on down to see these friendly faces. They're open Friday and Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. And if you order ahead by phone, all you have to do is pull up to the barn and honk... they'll bring your whiskey right on out to your car.
Note that cash is the only form of payment Still Hollow Spirits accepts.
You can learn more about Still Hollow Spirits on their website or Facebook page . As always, be sure to enjoy responsibly!
If you prefer your Bloody Butcher corn as cornmeal instead of whiskey, head over to Reed’s Mill .
