Head up to Blue Mountain Lake in the Adirondacks, and you’ll be greeted with some of the most stunning views you’ve experienced in upstate New York. Castle Rock Trail, a 3.4-mile out-and-back trail with picturesque overlooks of the area, is the perfect trail to enjoy the lake in all its beauty. And when the leaves begin changing, it will be well worth the drive.
The Adirondack Experience, a museum located on Blue Mountain Lake, is currently closed, but Blue Mountain Lake is certainly still worth the trip for hiking and lake activities alone. Plus, it’s only about a two-hour drive from Albany. For this one, you’ll want your hiking shoes and your swimsuit, too.
