Follow An Old Rail Trail To Marymoor Park On This Enchanting Washington Trail
A “rail trail” is a former railroad right-of-way that has been converted in to a hiking, biking, and walking path for Washingtonians to enjoy. Our state has several great rail trails worth exploring, one of which parallels the lovely Sammamish River. If you live in Western Washington, check out the beautiful, family-friendly Sammamish River Trail.

This is part of the Locks to Lake Corridor, a 44-mile regional trail.

Western Washington often has mild winters, so it's a great year-round option.

Not only is it well-marked and easy to find, it's sometimes used extensively by commuters as a non-motorized corridor between suburban cities and Seattle.

The trail offers sweeping views of the river, the Sammamish River Valley, Cascade foothills, and even Mt. Rainier.

Joggers, skaters, and power walkers tend to enjoy the trail as well. The trail has a very slight grade for its entire length, so it's a pretty easy walk.

This one happens to end at Marymoor Park, which is one of Redmond's most popular natural areas.
