With lots of fear and restrictions circling non-stop this year, it is always refreshing to hear when our traditions are carried out, even if it does look a little different than before. Since 1965, our unofficial kickoff to fall has been the must-see Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup, which will be taking place in the next few weeks:
Mark your calendar for Friday, September 25, 2020, as the 55th annual Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup will be back and better than ever!
Featuring some 1,300 buffalo, the Custer State Roundup is one of the last events of its kind in the world and consists of 60 volunteer cowboys and cowgirls (plus a few extra rangers) who round up the animals and drive them into corrals.
What should you bring to the Roundup? Visitors are encouraged to pack for all the elements, so bring snacks and water, plus chairs, sunscreen, and layered clothing.
