7 Reasons Why It's Better To Visit The Arizona Snowbowl In The Fall

You’ve probably gone skiing at the Arizona Snowbowl many times during winter, but have you ever visited in the fall? It’s an entirely different experience, but we just might enjoy it even more. Here’s why:
1. Ski lift rides through the eye-popping autumn trees.
While the chairlift offers an unforgettable experience no matter the season, there's something extra special about it in the fall. Passengers enjoy a front-row seat to the most breathtaking foliage Arizona has to offer!
2. Watching the seasons change right before your eyes.
As snow begins to accumulate, there are always a few trees that hold onto fall for as long as possible. Their vibrancy juxtaposed with the otherwise monochromatic landscape is an awe-inspiring sight.

3. Leisurely sipping a drink at one of several bars.
Although the Snowbowl features seven restaurants and bars that are open during winter, it isn't always the most enjoyable experience. After all, how can you truly enjoy a cold beer in below-freezing temperatures? In the fall, a light flannel and cozy fire are all you need to keep warm.
The mountain range containing Humphrey's Peak, the highest point in Arizona, is always breathtaking, but even more so during autumn. In the valley, some trees are evergreen while others take on bright yellow and orange hues; the stark contrast is absolutely stunning.
5. The most iconic fall hike in Arizona is just minutes away.
Aspen Nature Lollipop Trail (formerly Aspen Nature Loop) sits essentially in the Snowbowl's backyard. The hike is under three miles long and features only a mild elevation gain, so it's perfect for when you're already tuckered out after a full day of exploring.
It's an inarguable fact that the Snowbowl is busy year-round (and for good reason), but winter is by far the most popular time to visit. During fall, you just might be able to close your eyes, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and enjoy the stillness that characterizes this time of year.
The Snowbowl is open Friday-Sunday in September and daily during fall colors (October). The winter ski season typically starts around mid-to-late November.
