Family fun underneath a 40-foot waterfall that trickles with just the right amount of intensity is only a drive away at a refreshing natural pool located in one of Oconee County’s wonderful county parks. Oconee County is home to more than 150 waterfalls where you could spend all summer chasing them down – and still not get to them all.
While there are many must-see falls in this county, there's one waterfall swimming hole that's ideal for the little ones. It's found along Ramsey Creek in Chau Ram County Park in Westminster, South Carolina.
And guess what? With this waterfall... there's no hiking required. You're only steps from the falls when you park your car and admire the view as you close the car door.
The falls along Ramsey Creek have a natural spot for plunking down your towel and shoes, too. The huge, flat rock is also ideal for observing your kids at play in the water.
The park is situated at the confluence of Ramsey Creek and the much larger Chuaga River. Bring an inner tube and float aimlessly down a short run on the river — or just sit in the river and enjoy the company of good friends or family.
The park boasts two miles of trail along the Chauga River, so bring your hiking shoes, too!
