Is there anything more wholesome than enjoying a movie with loved ones? Yes: enjoying a movie with loved ones under the stars! While we might not be able to check out our favorite movie theatres these days, there’s one program happening near Detroit that will allow families to watch flicks among pretty natural surroundings in a safe, socially distant way. Get ready to have a blast.
If you’re from Detroit or its surrounding areas, you’ve undoubtedly spent quality time at one spot or another from within the stunning Huron-Clinton Metropark system.
There are 13 parks in the system, each offering its own natural attractions and activities throughout the year. At a handful of the parks, though, you can enjoy outdoor movies.
Over the coming weeks, visitors can attend Metropark Movie Nights at the following parks: Lake St. Clair, Kensington, Stony Creek, Hudson Mills, and Willow Creek.
Each event will feature a family-friendly flick that should be enjoyed either via your vehicle or socially distanced bicycle. Safety and health restrictions will be carefully enforced.
Location for Metropark Movie Nights will shift between parks beginning August 8th and continuing on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through early September.
Admission is free for those with a Metroparks vehicle pass, while non-Metropark passholders can easily purchase a day pass. Movies begin playing promptly at dusk.
This year’s flicks include fun films like Toy Story 4, A League of Their Own, Frozen 2, Aladdin, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and more. There’s an option for everyone.
While you might have to stay a bit more distant than usual this year, Metropark Movie Nights will still allow Metro Detroiters to appreciate nature while having a total blast.
