Calling all animal lovers! If you’re looking for a fun family outing that is inexpensive, close to home, and incorporates your child’s love for animals, you’ll want to head over to the Wildlife West Nature Park.
Located a short drive from Albuquerque in Edgewood, Wildlife West is an intriguing park that doubles as an animal sanctuary.
This includes animals injured in accidents or rescued from a grim life in captivity. Once the animals go through rehabilitation, they are provided with a custom habitat that engages their natural selves.

The nature park is open daily and admission costs $9 for adults, $5 for students, and is free for children under 5. For additional information, visit their website or Facebook page.
If you were hoping to drive a little farther from the city, there is another fantastic wildlife sanctuary located two hours west of Albuquerque. The Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary is located near Ramah and offers the rare experience of meeting a Mexican gray wolf.
