We all know that the Cornhusker State has more than its share of hauntings and spooky places. For you lovers of all things that go bump in the night, we give you the first installment in a series of haunted road trips that will take you to some of the state’s spookiest places. The Meriwether Lewis Dredge has been turned into a museum which is widely believed to be haunted. One of the more notable occurrences is a piano which plays by itself when no one is around.
The Bailey House Museum, named for the Civil War captain who once lived there, is said to be home to at least one ghost: Captain Bailey himself. Doors refuse to stay closed thanks to his restless spirit.

3. Peru State College, Eliza Morgan Residence Hall
This residence hall at Peru State College is reportedly home to the spirit of its namesake. According to the legend, the ill-fated Ms. Morgan died in the building's basement and has been haunting residents ever since.
Swing down Seven Sisters Road, otherwise known as Road L, on your way to the next location. An enraged father is said to have hung his seven daughters from trees on seven hills along this road many years ago. According to some reports, driving down this road may cause your car to act strangely...or you may even hear the screaming of the sisters.
Considered by some to be one of the most haunted locations in the area, Ball Cemetery has been home to numerous paranormal phenomena. Ghostly figures wander the grounds, and visitors have seen floating orbs above the tombstones.
PLEASE NOTE: This location has No Trespassing signs posted. Please respect the signs and experience this spooky spot from outside of the gate.
Plenty of paranormal testing has been conducted at this castle, and investigators have classified it as haunted. Disembodied voices and footsteps can sometimes be heard in the large building.
7. Fort Omaha, Metropolitan Community College, Omaha
Although it is now a Metro Community College campus, Fort Omaha has a very long history as a military post. Sightings of ghostly figures have been reported in several of the buildings.
Hummel Park is a favorite location for ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts. The park gives off a very creepy feeling and is said to be home to many restless spirits. The grounds have reportedly also been used for satanic rituals and sacrifices.
This college campus, like many other college campuses, was reported to be home to restless wandering spirits. Dana College has been closed for quite some time, but when Argo Hall was occupied, residents reported electronic devices turning off and on, and doors opening on their own.
This park in the middle of Fremont was once a cemetery. Stories say that the cemetery was relocated, but not all of the bodies were removed. The restless spirits of those left behind now wander the grounds.
Top off your day of ghost hunting with a meal at this haunted steakhouse. A regular customer who passed away years ago is said to still visit the restaurant in the form of a ghost. The spirit re-lights candles after they are blown out and opens closed doors. Even if you don't have a supernatural experience here, you can still end your busy day with a delicious meal.
This trip will take you about a day to complete, depending on how long you spend at each location. This trip is by no means definitive or exhaustive. There are plenty of other haunted spots in the area which can’t be easily mapped out, like individual graves and old bridges. What else belongs in this road trip?
