On a pretty summer day, a hike is one of the best ways to get some exercise and fresh air. The Neff’s Canyon Trail is a good choice if you want to bring your pup along, and it showcases some of the Wasatch Front’s most compelling scenery.

Neff's Canyon is a small spur canyon directly south of Millcreek Canyon. If you live in the Salt Lake Valley and are looking for a hike close to home, this is a great choice.

The trailhead starts at White Park in Olympus Cove. On a weekend, get there early to find a parking space in the small lot.

Unlike many of the canyons along the Wasatch Front, Neff's Canyon is one place where dogs are allowed. Make sure that you have some bags to clean up after your four-legged friend before you head out.

Since Big and Little Cottonwoods Canyons don't allow dogs, we'd hate for them to be banned from Neff's Canyon because of lazy owners who aren't cleaning up after their pups.
The trail starts on an old Jeep track, making its way through scrub oak. Keep an eye out for rattlesnakes, which can be common here.

The trail follow a gurgling creek most of the way, and you'll cross it a few times. Plan for your pup to get wet, muddy, and very happy on this trail!
