America's U.S. Supreme Court Chamber Is Actually A Copy Of The Tallest, Most Beautiful Building In West Virginia

You probably already know that the West Virginia Capitol Building is the tallest in the state. But what you may not know is that the architect who designed it loved it so much that he later reused the same design for a portion of the U.S. Supreme Court Building in Washington D.C.

Gilbert was a personal friend of President Taft, and his other designs include the Woolworth Building, the United States Supreme Court building, the state capitols of Minnesota and Arkansas, and the Saint Louis Art Museum and Public Library.

In fact, Architect Cass loved it so much that a few years later, he re-used the design of the chamber in the East Wing of the West Virginia Capitol for the United States Supreme Court Chamber in Washington, D.C.
