West Virginia is home to hundreds of beautiful waterfalls. And one of the tallest and easiest to access is Cathedral Falls, located just off Route 60 near Gauley Bridge in Fayette County. And with this wet spring we’re having, this is a great time to check out this stunning cascade!

The falls plunge over 60 feet down the side Gauley Mountain.
At certain times of the year, the falls dry up to a small trickle or disappear altogether.

But if you catch it right, the cascade is a stunning sight.
Thankfully, Cathedral Falls is one of the easier falls to access in West Virginia: you can drive right up to it!

There's a small pull-off on the side of Midland Trail (Route 60) between Cotton Hill and Gauley Bridge.

If you want an easy hike, you can take a short trail from the pull off if you'd like to get closer to the falls.

They're taller than you might realize, especially once you're standing at the base of them!

There's also a serene, refreshing wading pool at the base of the falls to enjoy.
And if you look closely, you might even spot a rainbow.

On sunny days, they're a frequent sight at the base of the falls and only add to the magic of the place.

Just make sure you visit at the right time of year if you want to see Cathedral Falls in all her glory!
