Spanning the mouth of the Pend Oreille River in North Idaho is a structure aptly named The Long Bridge. At two miles long, it’s certainly an impressive sight to this day—nevermind the fact that this incredible bridge was built over a century ago. In fact, at the time of its construction, it was considered the longest wooden bridge in the world. It may no longer have that honor today—that would be the Horai-Bashi Bridge in Japan—but it’s still a sight to see. The next time you find yourself in the area, be sure to pay it a visit to see for yourself.
