Considered to be the tallest bridge in all of New York, the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge is actually the longest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere. Whoa!
Connecting the boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn, the tallest bridge in all of New York State has an average of more than 200,000 cars crossing it on a daily basis.
As many New Yorkers may already know, it's not just cars that cross the tallest bridge in our state - the epic New York City Marathon happens to take over 50,000 participating runners right over the bridge as well each fall!
The only structure crossing New York's Narrows, the double-deck bridge is made up of 13 lanes - 7 of which can be found on the upper level, and the remaining 6 that can be found on the lower level of the bridge.
