Red Rock Canyon is a stunning example of nature’s artwork in the Sooner State and offers hours and hours of outdoor entertainment, miles of hiking trails, several overnight accommodations, and fun for the whole family. It’s located only a short distance from Oklahoma City and is a serene destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
Formerly Red Rock Canyon State Park, Red Rock Canyon Adventure Park provides nature-friendly activities for hikers, campers, RV'ing, and nature enthusiasts.
This is also a great place for open exploration and wandering. The whole family will enjoy scrambling along the bright rocks of the park and enjoying the unparalleled views from the ridge of the canyon. The park offers picnic areas, a small pond for fishing, a charming playground, and plenty of natural trails.
The red canyon walls within the park are so unique and provide a beautiful backdrop for your canyon hike. There are two nature trails in the park for easy walks or there is a third trail for a more strenuous hike.
The California Road Trail is the one trail at this park you absolutely must try. It offers beautiful views, is well maintained, and will take you through carpets of Oklahoma wildflowers in season.
Or take the Rough Horsetail Nature Trail — a .6-mile trail that promises plenty of spectacular natural beauty. However, it also features some steep stairs, so make sure you're up for the climb.
After you've finished hiking on one of these beautiful trails, explore more of Red Rock Canyon Adventure Park, which features rappelling, a shimmering pool, and picnic areas.
