Right now, much of Delaware is shuttered while we combat the outbreak of COVID-19 throughout the United States. However, while we’re all cooped up inside, it’s important to find things to look forward to for when we’re past this outbreak and free to once again explore the First State! Did you know that Delaware is home to two state forests, in addition to our world-famous state park system? When you’re looking for a quiet place to go and get away from the crowds, this remote hike through Blackbird State Forest is just the thing you need.
Blackbird State Forest offers miles of well maintained - and typically empty - trails that wind through upland forest near Clayton, Delaware.
You can walk for hours here and you won't see another soul! This is truly one of Delaware's most underappreciated natural wonders, and we're lucky that it has been so well preserved.
The Tybout Track trail is a two-mile loop that's perfect for a shady stroll, and it connects to the other trails in the forest. You can spend hours here if you have a great sense of adventure.
Spend a day exploring Blackbird State Forest and a night sleeping underneath the stars for one of the most remote adventures you'll ever find here in the First State.
