If you call our state your “Old Kentucky Home” then chances are you think it’s a pretty great place to live. From big cities to small towns, the Bluegrass State does have a lot to offer residents who want an affordable, safe, and beautiful spot to reside. In a recent ranking, Kentucky’s largest city, Louisville, was named one of the best places to live in the country. We won’t argue and in fact, we happen to agree that life can be pretty great here in the Bluegrass State.
Louisville sits on the Ohio River and as Kentucky's largest city has a population of about 600,000.
That number doubles if you include the entire metro area, making this a highly populated area, especially for a state like Kentucky. In a recent study by Bankrate.com, Louisville was named as the 8th best city to live in out of 50 U.S. cities.
The study included 50 major cities in the country and looked at factors such as affordability, safety, culture, education, and the job market.
Louisville's top rating came in affordability with a score of 8 out of 10. Especially when compared to other major cities throughout the country, Louisville is a very affordable place to live.

Of course we know there are many other reasons Louisville should be considered one of the best places to live in the country.
Most know this city for its major features, such as the Kentucky Derby. This exciting and historic event is just as much fun for locals as it is for visitors.
The Highlands is a neighborhood that is known for its historic homes, but is also where you'll find many of the best local restaurants, shops, and things to do around the city.
As the largest city in our state, so many Kentuckians call Louisville home.
And thanks to several standout factors, it's easy to see why it has been recognized by others as one of the best places to live in the country.
Those of us who reside in the city of Louisville are not surprised to learn that it was named one of the best places to live in the country.
