In the realm of hole-in-the-walls, Stamps Superburger reigns supreme. The unassuming eatery has been in business for decades, grilling up burgers that are equal parts giant and juicy. And it’s not just locals who love them. The iconic burger joint has received several accolades throughout the years, and most recently, was named the best in the state. Take a look:
A Jackson staple, Stamps Superburger opened on Dalton Street in 1970. And while the eatery has remained in the same location throughout the years, a few things have changed. For one, it was initially opened as a grocery store and meat market.
The hamburgers that the eatery is now known for didn’t enter the picture until around 1982, when a member of the Stamps family had a burger craving that needed to be satisfied – and the rest is history.
Throughout the decades, Stamps following has only increased. A line out the door is a common sight these days, which is rather impressive when you learn the eatery relies solely on word-of-mouth advertising.
Not only are the hamburgers juicy and delicious, but they’re outrageously thick! Just how thick? Well, that depends on the burger you choose. The Small Burger comes with an 8-ounce patty, while the Super Burger has a 14-ounce patty.
