The hiking trail, which spans just over three miles, is rated moderate. Be prepared for rocky terrain, stairs, and even some slick spots, especially after a rainfall or a snowfall.

Begin your hike along the loop trail at either end of the covered bridge. First, however, stop to admire the view of and from the historic Eckert Bridge.

If you're visiting between Memorial Day and the end of September, tour the Grist Mill (pictured above). Tours are offered from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Wednesday through Sunday.
If you're hiking on the weekend, especially during the warmer months and during fall foliage, expect the route to be pretty heavy with traffic. Other times, however, the trail can be quiet and peaceful.
