When you think of popular vacation spots around our country, the state of Kentucky may not be the first place to come to mind. But maybe it should be! The Bluegrass State offers so much to tourists who visit from other states, as well as locals who want to have a little vacation close to home. We often share fun-filled destinations and road trip attractions throughout Kentucky, but one particular town offers countless activities all in one area. Cave City, known of course for Mammoth Cave, offers endless fun and so many unique things to do. Especially if you’ve never visited, take a closer look at the unofficial tourist capital of Kentucky.
As its name suggests, Cave CIty is home to 9 caves that offer over 21 tours so you can experience an underground adventure.
Mammoth Cave is the most well known and is the oldest attraction in Kentucky, the second oldest tourist attraction in the United States. When you visit Cave City, a stop at Mammoth Cave is a must, but there are many other adventures and activities that warrant a stay in the area. If you do need a place to stay, consider this fun-filled themed campground.
Be sure not to spend all of your time underground in Cave City, as the above ground adventures are just as amazing.
Green River is an ideal place to head out on a kayak and you can rent one from many places in the area. There are also guided tours, if you prefer. Cave City and its nearby parks also offer countless hiking trails with beautiful scenery at varying levels.

And for a different type of interaction with nature, head to Kentucky Down Under Adventure Park.
