Montana is known for many amazing things, but speakeasies definitely aren’t one of them. Needless to say, the residents of Bozeman were overjoyed when a speakeasy-style bar opened in the fall of 2018. And since then, Devil’s Toboggan has become both a local hot spot and a best-kept secret, serving some of the best cocktails and small plates in town.

Devil’s Toboggan sits behind an unmarked door upstairs in the new Cannery District, a mix of restaurants, shops, and breweries.

Looking at this building, you'd never guess that there's a delightful hidden bar inside.
While the door to the bar is unmarked, you'll spot a sign guiding you upstairs.

Step inside and you'll feel like you've been transported to another time... and out of Montana.

The bar is elegant, sophisticated, and eye-catching, ornately decorated with velvet chairs and crystal light fixtures.
The owner, Chris Burgard, wanted to bring something different to Bozeman -- and he certainly did.

Burgard said he wanted to do something fun... and while patrons are welcome to come as they are, it does give them an excuse to dress up if they'd like to.

The food menu isn't enormous, but it's surprisingly varied, offering everything from tapas (small plates) to nightly specials and tempting desserts. You have to love a place where you can get both bison nachos and fresh oysters on the half shell.

Devil's Toboggan is open daily at 4 p.m., with a happy hour from 4 to 6.

They close at midnight from Tuesday through Saturday and may close earlier on Sundays and Mondays if business is slow.
