Are you looking for an exciting holiday event for the whole family?
This annual event is hosted by the White Pass & Yukon Route, early December each year.
The fun starts at the train depot in downtown Skagway.
Many gather at 11:00 a.m. to meet Santa in the festively decorated depot. The whole place is brimming with Christmas cheer, and your spirit will be high while waiting to see Santa!
You'll get to take photos with Santa and his elves, as well as tell him all of your Christmas wishes.
Santa and his volunteers will make sure that every child is taken care of before the ride. The train departs at 11:45 a.m., so if you want some time with Santa, get there early so you don't miss the start of the train ride.
Santa will arrive via train to meet and greet all of the children that have come to see him.
After hearing everyone's Christmas wishes, Santa will board the train with upwards of 15 passenger cars on a fabulous trip all the way to Clifton and back. This is a beautiful ride and an exciting event for your family after meeting Santa.
Bring winter clothing and plenty of warm blankets to snuggle into during the trip.
In previous years, the 15 passenger cars were filled with up to 675 riders! There will be lots of people here, and everyone will be excited about this incredible complimentary ride.
This event is geared towards children, but there are plenty of adults who come to enjoy the ride, too.
Many Canadians even travel in for this incredible event. The train ride is also an eye opener, when you remember that many gold rushers made this trek in the winter 120 years ago across this deep, snow covered route!
This event happens each and every year, and you can find updates about it on the White Pass & Yukon Route Facebook page.
It's a very popular event, so you may want to come a little earlier to make sure you have a chance to see Santa. Bring a delicious hot chocolate to really get in the spirit of things and stay warm on the train! The organizers do ask that you leave all alcoholic beverages off the train.
