Often crowded, there’s something about sitting at the counter and enjoying a freshly-made breakfast or lunch that just hits the spot. There’s one little cafe over in Lafayette that’s been serving some of the best diner food in the state for quite the while, and that’s Dwyer’s Cafe. Dwyer’s Cafe is a charming little diner located in the heart of downtown Lafayette.
The cafe began as Stinson’s Cafe in the Garden Hotel in 1927. Stanley Dwyer went to work for them in 1942, working his way up the culinary ladder until becoming the head cook and running the kitchen for several years. In 1965, he purchased the cafe from the Stinson’s and renamed it Dwyer’s Cafe. The rest, as they say, is history.
The family-owned and operated diner is always a popular spot to sit back and enjoy a hearty breakfast or lunch.
The lunch specials are a wonderful blend of Cajun, Creole and Southern classics including roast pork, smothered chicken, shrimp fettuccine, and BBQ brisket, among many others.
