The best adventures are the ones that everyone can enjoy.
That seems to be the idea and inspiration behind the accessible Storybook Trail in Massanutten. Located in Luray, Virginia, this half-mile scenic trail meanders through the woods and ends at a breathtaking overlook. What truly sets this trail apart is the fact that the trail itself is three feet wide and therefore handicap accessible. Whether you’re there for just an hour or an entire afternoon, you’ll find that the Storybook Trail seems, well, like it’s straight out of a storybook.
While all of Virginia's hikes are beautiful, not every one is suitable for all ages and abilities. That's what makes the Massanutten Storybook Trail in Luray, Virginia such a gem of a destination
Despite being such a short stroll through the woods, the trail lends itself to lots of scenery. If you're lucky and can visit during the fall, you might even find yourself surrounded by fall foliage!
Before long, the pathway will lead to a clearing and scenic overlook. There's plenty of space for many people to enjoy the view, so you can relax and stay awhile.
If you're looking for a little more adventure, there's a rocky footpath to the right of the observation platform. Continue along this pathway and you'll have an even more expansive view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
