It turns out Idaho is full of cheese lovers. In fact, the state’s first ever grilled cheese festival is coming up in just a few weeks. However, if you consider yourself more of a macaroni and cheese type of person, then you’ll be thrilled to know that the 3rd annual Mac and Cheese Festival will be taking place in just a few months time. This festival hasn’t been around for very long, but it’s already proved itself as one of the most highly anticipated food festivals Idaho has to offer. It's official! The Mac & Cheese Festival in Coeur d'Alene is coming back for a third year and we couldn't be more excited. This is bond to be a fun-filled day with TONS of comfort food, so definitely start making plans to attend.
This year, the festival will take place on January 18, 2020 at the usual destination of the famous Coeur D'Alene Resort. It may only be the festival's third year, but this event has quickly become one of the most popular foodie events in the state.
At its core, this festival is a massive celebration of everybody's favorite childhood dish: macaroni and cheese. Those childhood days may be long gone, but you're simply never too old to enjoy perfectly cooked macaroni smothered in delicious cheese sauce.
Festival goers will be able to sample as much mac & cheese as they possibly can, prepared by local Coeur D'Alene chefs who are all competing for the festival's top prize—the Golden Noodle Award.
Each chef will put their own unique twist on this childhood classic and people can vote for their favorite for the People's Choice Trophy. The list of this year's chefs is yet to be announced, but previous years have brought in local restaurants such as Mangia Catering Company, Coeur D'Alene Taphouse Unchained, and Tito's Italian Grill.
Ticket prices vary depending on how much macaroni you'd like to consume. In the past, base level tickets have included up to six macaroni tasters along with up to eight beer tastings. Last year, they also offered a VIP experience for unlimited macaroni tasters, along with extra VIP amenities.
The 3rd Annual Mac & Cheese Festival may seem far away, but it'll be here before you know it. Start planning a trip to Coeur D'Alene pronto so you can be first in line at this deliciously cheesy festival!
