After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
From underrated eateries to upscale, oceanfront restaurants, the Hawaiian Islands are home to countless incredible restaurants that are loved and frequented by many — especially in the islands’ most popular resort destinations. We’ve featured more of these remarkable restaurants than we can count over the last four years and were surprised to discover we never mentioned this gem.
Welcome to Nalu’s South Shore Grill, a casual Kihei eatery known for its island-inspired menu, live music, and daily happy hour.
Though this restaurant’s location in a strip mall might be unassuming, as soon as you step inside this casual, open-air restaurant, you’ll understand the hype. This eatery is quintessentially Hawaiian in all the best ways: a koa wood canoe hangs overhead, beach photographs cover the walls, feral chickens strut around like they own the place, and the menu is to-die-for.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day here at Nalu’s South Shore Grill, with acai bowls, corn flake-crusted French toast, and pancakes served with banana, pineapple, and macadamia nuts for those who enjoy their morning meal to be sweet and a vegetarian loco moco, omelets, and an ahi benedict for fans of all things savory.
Healthy, hearty, and locally-grown, the food served here is divine. The lunch and dinner menu features burgers, sandwiches, salads, and wraps, all with an island flair sure to impress.
Now that we’ve discussed the food menu, let’s turn our attention to the drinks — namely, Nalu’s daily happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. Will you order the famous kimchee bloody mary or this beauty made with fresh watermelon, basil, agave, sour, house tequila, and triple sec?
No matter what your order or when you visit, you’ll be delighted with the service, ambiance, and cuisine at Nalu’s South Shore Grill. What are you waiting for?
Nalu’s South Shore Grill is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with daily happy hour specials from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook.
