They say, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” And that old adage has definitely proven true for Pete’s Hamburger Stand. The tiny burger joint has garnered a huge reputation for its mouthwatering hamburgers, which they’ve been making the same way since opening over 100 years ago! Take a look:
Many of Wisconsin’s small towns are home to great restaurants – and in Prairie du Chien, that great restaurant is Pete’s Hamburger Stand.
The tiny eatery has been at its present location since 1955; however, it’s been around much longer. A longtime favorite, Pete’s has been serving up its famous burgers since 1909!
So, what makes the burgers so good? It’s how they’re cooked, which is with water and onions. A tried and true method, the burgers have been prepared the same since Pete’s opened all those years ago.
As far as toppings go, you can forget about lettuce, cheese, or most other usual options. At Pete’s you’ll have a choice of "with" or "without," which refers to whether or not you want onions on your burger.
Pete’s is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from late-April to late-October. Visit Friday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. For more information, check out Pete’s Facebook page.
