After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
The Hawaiian Islands are known for several beverages: Kona coffee, mai tais, Blue Hawaiians, and pineapple juice come instantly to mind, but the Aloha State also produces some of the best brews in the country. From Kona Brewing Company to Waikiki Brewing Company, these breweries produce some mighty delicious brews, but many of our all-time favorites are made at the largest craft brewery in the state: Maui Brewing Company. While you will find restaurant locations in Lahaina, Kailua, and Waikiki, it is their Kihei brewery that you absolutely must visit for a tasting and a tour.
Whether you’ve lived in Hawaii for just a few months or your entire life, you’ve likely tried one of the refreshing and delicious beers from Maui Brewing Company.
With island-brewed ales and lagers, you’re sure to find something to satisfy your taste buds. Do you go for the Bikini Blonde lager, Pineapple Mana wheat beer, the Coconut Hiwa porter, or the Pau Hana pilsner?
Offered six times per day and costing just $15 per person, each guided tour clocks in at 45 minutes and gives visitors a glimpse of the brewhouse, cellar, and packaging line.
The Maui Brewing Company’s tasting room is one of the state’s best, with a 32 tap draft system, board games, and views of Haleakala, Molokini, Lanai, and Kaho’olawe from their covered lanai.
Visitors will enjoy live music daily from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and two daily happy hours, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. While families are welcome, no minors are allowed in the tasting room after 8 p.m.
In addition to their year-round and special release brews, you can enjoy selected craft beers from other small breweries, ciders, wines, and specialty cocktails.
The Maui Brewing Company is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and tours are offered every day at 11:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:15 p.m. For more information or to book a tour for yourself, visit their website or follow them on Facebook.
