Anyone who’s been to Duluth has fallen in love with that beautiful city. Its location on Lake Superior makes it one of the most scenic places in Minnesota, and the hills surrounding the city offer some unforgettable vantage points. Not only is the landscape gorgeous, but there’s plenty to do. There are local shops and restaurants aplenty, and many trails to explore the area up close. One of the most interesting trails is on Minnesota Point, a beautiful sandbar that juts into Superior. Here, adventurous hikers will discover an abandoned lighthouse. Here’s what you need to know:

Minnesota Point — also known as Park Point — is a beautiful area in Duluth, Minnesota, only accessible by crossing the historic Aerial Lift Bridge. It's also the largest sandbar in the world!

Minnesota Point is known for its gorgeous views of Lake Superior. After all, it's surrounded by the lake on all but one side! The grassy dunes give way to sandy beaches.

There are also some lovely trails that cross the sandbar. Surrounded by a thick pine forest full of birds and other wildlife, you'll love the natural scenery.

One trail, near Sky Harbor Airport, will take you on a journey to a little-known ruin. After a mile of walking, you'll come to a fork. Take a right, and then take a left at the next fork.
