Ludington State Park, located 100 miles northwest of Grand Rapids, offers the best of both worlds. It’s got the bustle and charm of a popular tourist spot, complete with plenty of fun outdoor activities. The park is busy enough to warrant a rich lineup of amenities and programming – including boat rentals, lighthouse tours, and a nice bike path. But unlike other popular travel destinations, it’s quite vast – about 5,300 acres – so you can get bit of seclusion if you want some peace and quiet.
Big Sable Point Lighthouse, pictured below, is among the most popular features of the park. Folks can hike to the 112 foot lighthouse, and between May and October, daily tours are available 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
