The brown beans are legendary, and so good that patrons often ask the owner for his top-secret recipe. Go ahead and ask him - he'll just smile and say that if he tells you, he'll have to kill you. He's joking. We think. One thing's for sure - the beans are so tasty that the recipe is definitely worth keeping a secret.
Get to Shad's Catfish Hole early because it fills up fast. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bring cash; the restaurant doesn't take credit cards.
