North Dakota has some truly stunning landscapes. Places that people who think the state is nothing but flat fields are totally missing out on. The painted canyons of the west are one of those, and everyone should experience them at least once. Luckily, there is an awesome trail that will take you right down into the canyons in one of the most scenic spots. Not only that, but it’s easily accessible right off the interstate and free to experience. Take a look:
The Painted Canyon Overlook is open year-round, however, the visitors center is seasonal and may not be open. You can still enjoy the view and trail regardless. It is just off of 1-94. You can find more information about this trail and other trails in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park by clicking here.
Address: Exit 32, Belfield, ND, 58622
Theodore Roosevelt National Park may have beautiful canyons, but it isn’t the only place in North Dakota. The Pembina Gorge is another awesome spot with great trails and gorgeous scenery.
