Summer is the time for fresh produce, but there aren’t as many local farms in Utah as there were a few decades ago. Luckily, you can still find a few farmers with roadside stands, and there’s one that’s been around for generations.

Pettingill's Fruit & Produce got its start in 1947. It's always been a family-owned business, and it's a long-time staple in northern Utah.

Gay and Helen Pettingill founded the business, but it has passed down to their son Steven and daughter Jean Davis. Not only is this a family business; it's also an important part of the community. Many local teenagers find work here during summer months.

As soon as you drive up, you'll see flat bed trailers with bushel baskets of whatever's in season. The bounties of the harvest await at this market.

Juicy bushels of peaches are just waiting to be turned into peach jam and preserved in jars for eating during cold winter months. There are always several varieties of peaches available.
