When you think of Acadia National Park in the summer, images of tourist packs and throngs of people might come to mind. While that’s certainly true for a lot of areas within this popular area, there are some places that still offer peace and quiet. One of our favorites is this clear lake in Maine. While it can get busy on warm days, the clear water and gentle breeze will remind you why we love Maine so much. If you’re in the area, it’s worth spending a day along the banks.
Echo Lake is located on the western side of Mount Desert Island, near Route 102 a bit south of Somesville. The beach can be found on the southern shore and there’s a lifeguard on duty between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Address: Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, ME, 04660
