When most people think about wildlife in South Dakota, they typically think of such animals as buffalo, rattlesnakes, coyotes, and rabbits, which are hands down some of the most common in the Mount Rushmore State. While these prairie creatures are to be expected, South Dakota is also home to several more exotic animals like lions, tigers, and… wolves? Welcome to Bear Country USA: One of the most unique experiences in all of South Dakota!
Located in Rapid City, Bear Country USA is an animal rescue that houses several species of North American wildlife and allows visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal via the comfort of their car.
Spanning 200 acres, Bear Country houses their namesake black bears, plus others like the Canadian lynx, reindeer, and bobcat.
In addition to the aforementioned animals, Bear Country USA is also home to several species of North American wolves, including Arctic and Timber.
When you drive the 3-mile road, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for these majestic creatures, which can be spotted both on the drive and at Babyland.

Admission to Bear Country USA is $18 for adults, $12 for children 5 to 12, and $16 for seniors 62+.
Please note: Each tour takes place in your own private vehicle and every person in the car must have a ticket.
Bear Country USA is open every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from late spring through November.
