Iowa is a great place to live. We have a safe state, great education, and a thriving economy, but like any state, we have our problems, too. Here are 12 times that the struggle was real in Iowa:
1. When it's state fair week but you're on a diet.
Just one fried Snickers won't hurt...
2. Or even worse - when you're on a diet during the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival.
Really though, it would be a shame for any of that bacon to go to waste...
3. When you have to go all the way to Missouri to get your Fourth of July fireworks.
4. When caucus season transforms the state into a battleground - and you can't walk outside without being bombarded by presidential candidates.
5. When you're going out to dinner but have to make a choice: Maid rites...
6. Or tenderloins.
Decisions, decisions....
7. When you want to like the new Tonight Show host, but know that nobody can ever compare to Johnny Carson.
8. When you're dating the enemy.
If you're an Iowa State girl dating an Iowa boy, your love life may get a little tricky around football season...
9. When you try to go vegetarian in Iowa.
But then you remember how amazing Iowa pork is.
10. And when you get weird looks for putting ranch on literally everything.
11. When you had plans, but then found out that Field of Dreams was playing on TV.
Sorry guys I can't make it.... I'm sick....
12. When you're talking to an out-of-stater and you have to explain the difference between Idaho, Ohio, and Iowa to them.
Surprise! They're actually three separate states, but go ahead, keep calling Iowa "Idaho" and see what happens.
