Summertime means rodeo time in Utah, and we host several all over the state. Utah’s biggest rodeo takes place in July, and it’s an extravaganza that’s sure to be fun for everyone. Have you ever attended the Days of 47 Rodeo?
The annual Days of 47 Rodeo is so big that they built a new arena for it in 2017. The arena seats 10,000 spectators and cost $17.5 million to build. It's located at the Utah State Fairpark.
Of course, you won't want to miss one of the most exciting events of the rodeo - the bull riding. Watch to see if these crazy cowboys can stay on a bucking bull for at least eight seconds, and watch the rodeo clowns distract the bulls when the cowboys dismount unexpectedly.
It's not just cowboys at the Days of 47 Rodeo; some of the toughest women in the sport get into the action too! Watch talented cowgirls compete in breakaway roping and barrel racing.
There are four semi-final contests for each event, culminating in the Gold Medal Round on the 24th of July. These talented cowboys and cowgirls are some of the best in the nation. The prize money at this rodeo adds up to over $1 million.
The rodeo isn't all this extravaganza has to offer! Check out the Frontier Fun Zone, which includes a Native American Village, Tiny Tots Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, and more. Frontier Fun Zone activities are included with your rodeo ticket.
The Days of 47 Rodeo runs July 19th and 20th, and July 22nd through 24th. The rodeo starts at 8 p.m. each night; and the Frontier Fun Zone is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
