Although Oklahoma isn’t known as wine country, we have over 50 wineries in the state that make many unique flavors of wine from the vineyards in the Sooner State. We’ve featured several in past articles and today we want to introduce you to another one that’s worth a visit. Crystal Creek Winery in Mead offers a fantastic sampling of locally-made wine in their tasting room where you’ll get to try up to 22 flavors. Take a look:
Crystal Creek Winery is located in a rustic setting in Mead in southern Oklahoma close to the Texas border.
This small-town winery is open to the public for wine tasting on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Friday - Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Their wine is unique because it's made from fruits other than grapes. You'll find 22 different flavors made from berries, apricots, blackberries and elderberries. These two featured flavors are Passion Fruit and Pomegranate and they are both delicious.
One of my favorite offerings is the frozen wine - especially if you're visiting during the summer months. Flavors vary, but you'll find options like banana/strawberry, strawberry lemonade, and blueberry/raspberry.
If you're a fan of sweet wine, then this little winery might become your new favorite destination for wine tasting. They not only serve sweet wine but they have some dry options too.
You can also tour the facility and see where the raw fruit juices are fermented. Don't pass up the opportunity to visit this family-owned winery and taste their 22 unique flavors of wine. Make sure to try the two best sellers: Sangria and Elderberry.
